Would it be best for the American people to stop buying things during a government shutdown?
Will USDA inspections get made?
Will FDA inspection get made?
Capitalism does not have the morals to sell safe products the first time which is why we have a USDA and FDA.
Oh Lord – how the right wingers LOVE THE FAKE DRAMA!
Yes – the government will continue to run even when your TeaBags shut it down as much as they can.

Young Jeezy Presents U.S.D.A.: Cold Summer [Clean] $11.14 Less than six months after Young Jeezy released The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 he returned as part of the crew U.S.D.A. (United Streets Dopeboys of America), featuring longtime friends Blood Raw and Slick Pulla. On their full-length debut, there’s a natural chemistry that makes the tired topics sound a lot more alive than they should. It’s a good thing, too, since cocaine pushing, thug life, gunning for number one, and partying on the weekend are all topics Jeezy’s covered before and with much better production. Still, the hooks are here — strong as ever — and the production downgrade is all part of Cold Summer’s decided effort to connect with the streets. Reliable folks like Drumma Boy and Midnight Black provide 808-based trunk rumblers that almost warrant the “mixtape” subtitle, although it should be noted that there are no freestyles, jacked beats, or typical mixtape flow. Cold Summer sounds more like it should be sold in indie circles rather than underground circles, minus a couple tracks that come gift-wrapped for clubs and radio. Calling cocaine “White Girl” and building a song on it is nothing new and yet the single remains fresh, while the aggressive “Check” lives up to anything on either volume of Jeezy’s Thug Motivation. Speaking of which, “Go Getta” from Thug Motivation 102 reappears here in a remix with Jadakiss and Bun B slapped on. That rounds out the must-have tracks, since the rest of Cold Summer is B-list without ever dropping down to C. While few listeners will mind, the album’s biggest problem seems to be launching Blood Raw and Slick Pulla, since the two never get their proper showcase. They do, however, stand up just fine next to the talented Jeezy, who remains exciting even when he’s just making records instead of making history. [Cold Summer was also made available in a clean version, with all explicit material removed.] ~ David Jeffries, Rovi |

A hedonic, hedonic metric and discrete approach to estimating demand for fluid milk products using micro level data. $49.99 This study analyzes the market for functionally enhanced milk products. The models in each paper are tested using the AC Nielsen retail milk market demand data. The continuous product attributes that characterize each milk type are derived from USDA Nutritional Nutrient Database.;The first paper investigates the factors affecting the demand for soymilk products in the dairy market based on a two-stage hedonic model. In the first stage, the relationship between the prices of dairy products and the attributes of these products are exploited to derive the marginal implicit attribute prices. In the second stage, these marginal prices are used along with the information on households’ demographic background to explain the demand for product attributes. Our results indicate that although the soymilk attribute has a negative value itself, since soymilk is lactose/cholesterol free (LFCF) and mostly organic, it has a higher price premium than other milk types. Moreover, as the negative value of soymilk attribute diminishes, consumers purchase more soymilk. Among the demographic variables, presence of children, education level and age of the household have significantly positive impact on soymilk demand.;In the second paper, we introduced the concept of Hedonic Metric (HM) approach as an approximation method to estimate the price elasticities in classical traditional models. In these models, the number of estimated parameters increases exponentially with the number of variables included in the model. One method suggested by Pinske, Slade, and Brett (2002) suggests using spatial distances as a neoclassical approach to estimate the elasticities. Rojas and Peterson (2008) applied the Distance Metric (DM) method to the beer market using different combinations of distances. Although their method is insightful, the choice of distances is ambiguous and depends on prior judgments about data and trial/error methodology. Hedonic Metric (HM) method applied in this paper is practical |

Flora Of North America North of Mexico $163.66 Flora of North America brings together for the first time ever in a concise and easy to understand format information on all of the plants growing spontaneously in North America north of Mexico. Volume 24 of Flora North America is one of two volumes on grasses to be published in this series(Volume 25, though it follows sequentially, was published in 2003). Together they will provide a comprehensive, authoritative, illustrated account of this important group of plants. Most of the species treated are either native to North America north of Mexico or are introduced species that arenow established in the region, but there are many that do not fit into these categories. Among the additional species are several that the USDA has identified as major weed threats; and others that are known only as cultivated plants, some being cultivated for their ornamental value, others assources for human food or animal forage. For instance, volume 24 includes such ecologically important genera as Elymus (wheatgrasses), Poa (bluegrasses), and Festuca (fescues), economically important species such as Triticum (wheat), Hordeum (barley), Oryza (rice), and Zizania (wild rice), severalornamental species, including some bamboos, and noxious weeds such as Elymus repens (quackgrass), and Bromus tectorum (cheatgrass). The volume includes identification keys, descriptions, line drawings, and ecological characteristics for each of the species; distribution maps for the native and established species; and a list of commonly encountered synonyms for the accepted names. The treatments, each of which has beenextensively reviewed, are based on a combination of original observations and criticalreview of the literature. |

Geochemical survey of Wisconsin soils. $49.99 The first geochemical survey of Wisconsin soils was conducted in an effort to explore methods of efficient sampling strategies, laboratory analyses, and statistical data reduction. The objectives were: (1) to characterize the element compositions of Wisconsin surface soils with different status of glaciations and ages; (2) to investigate potential relationships between concentrations of elements in soil mapping units and the spatial variability of the geochemical data; (3) to justify the separation process and the benefit of analyzing the clay-size fraction of soils in geochemical soil surveys; and (4) to create forecasting models of soil properties.;The samples utilized in the state-wide study were from the USDA-NRCS Lincoln, NB, collection. A collection of samples from a small watershed in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin are from the Department of Geography, UW-Madison. The concentrations of elements in the whole soils were determined by neutron activation analysis and X-ray fluorescence analysis. A subset of samples was also analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. The <2mum fraction was separated from a subset of the soils and analyzed by the same three methods.;Background concentrations of elements in surface total soils were established at over 400 locations in Wisconsin. The abundance of both major and trace elements were in the range of concentrations for soils from the United States. The concentrations of most elements in the soils from the Driftless Area (15 km2) varied at the same degree as those from the whole state (169,790 km2). The small variability of immobile elements (Ti and Zr) indicates the even distribution of weathering-resistant minerals in the loess-derived surface soils of Wisconsin.;Some traditional soil mapping units were related to the geochemical data, such as particle-size classes and great soil groups. The concentrations of many elements in the <2mum fraction were more uniform compared to those for the total |
